What She Could Do Revised by Geri

What She Could Do
by Geri Hagler (my step-mom/best friend Renee’)

Accepting us all
with love and no judgments
bringing peace, squelching
arguments. Smiling
with calm and largess
modeling humility.

Sewing without a pattern, like magic
teaching me how to fix my hair,
showing me how to do my make-up,
protecting and supporting me

Singing the 60’s folk songs
Simon & Garfunkel, rhyming
in harmony with me. Being the gentle
willow and oak of reason.  Giving
freely.  Advising honestly. Saving me
with her patient heart.

  1. I like your revisions. The intimacy in the second stanza is nice, and I like the -ing verbs--it's happening NOW in the poem. :) Great thinking!
